Automation Companies in Massachusetts: An Honest Comparison

Written by Zach Ayvazian, founder of SureWay AI. Yes, one of the companies on this list is mine. The rest of it is still straight.

Full disclosure: I run SureWay AI, so read my entry knowing that. I wrote this because when I researched my own market I found plenty of lists ranking automation companies, most written by people who'd never spoken to any of them. This one comes from inside the market, and where a competitor is genuinely the better fit, it says so.

If you run a small service business in Massachusetts, a roofing company, a painting franchise, an HVAC shop, and you're looking for someone to automate the admin, the options break into three groups: local consultancies that build custom systems, national companies with Massachusetts landing pages, and per-month AI receptionist apps. They solve different problems at different prices. Here's who does what.

Local consultancies (custom builds)

SureWay AI (Concord)

Best for: owner-run trades that want named proof before they buy

My firm. We build custom automation for service businesses with 1 to 20 employees: document automation, speed-to-lead, AI voice agents, billing and QuickBooks work, and inventory sync, mostly on n8n and Airtable. Projects start at $2,000, priced fixed after a workflow audit.

What I'd point to as the differentiator: published, named case studies. An ops dashboard saving a roofing franchise about 6 hours a week, automated receipt filing for CertaPro Painters of Needham, a monthly QuickBooks invoicing batch for White Mountain Build, inventory sync for Gino's Guitar Gallery. Names, not "a client in the trades." The case studies page has the details, and if you call (978) 924-8377, the AI receptionist that answers is one of our builds.

DiPilato Automations (Marlborough)

Best for: Central MA contractors who want a low-cost entry point

Jon DiPilato runs a solo shop serving contractors and home-service businesses in Central Mass, working with n8n, Make, and Zapier. His published pricing starts with an AI receptionist at $297/month and runs up through multi-thousand-dollar packages, and he keeps an active blog and a demo phone line. If you want to start under $300 a month instead of with a $2,000 build, he's the most visible local option for that.

Edilab Studio (North Shore)

Best for: North Shore businesses that also need web design

A small studio around Revere, Lynn, Salem, and Peabody building AI agents that answer quote requests for contractors, restaurants, and salons, paired with web design work. If you're north of Boston and your website needs the same overhaul as your follow-up process, that pairing makes sense.

JusCoding (New Bedford)

Best for: South Coast businesses

A solo engineer building AI receptionists (published around $2,400) for South Coast HVAC, dental, legal, and auto businesses, with some of the better educational content in the local market. If you're in the New Bedford area, the geography alone makes this the first call.

The upmarket option

NineTwoThree Studio (Boston)

Best for: companies with $50K+ budgets

A real 60-plus person Boston AI development shop with clients like FanDuel and SimpliSafe. They build serious custom software, and their engagements price accordingly. If your automation project is actually a product build with a five or six figure budget, this is the tier you want, and it's a different market from everyone else on this page.

National page networks and receptionist apps

AutomateNexus, The Automators, Ovox, AgentBro, and similar

Best for: a cheap standalone phone answerer, eyes open

Search "AI automation" plus almost any Massachusetts town and you'll find these: national or overseas companies with a landing page per city. Some sell $2,500 to $7,500 builds (AutomateNexus), most sell AI receptionists from $79 to $197 a month. The product can be fine. What you won't get is someone who's seen a Massachusetts jobsite, local references you can call, or anyone accountable within driving distance. The city page you landed on was generated, and the same page exists for a few hundred other towns.

How to choose

Ask every provider the same three things. Can I see a named client with a build like mine? What exactly do I own when the project ends? Who fixes it when it breaks in six months, and what does that cost? The answers separate the builders from the landing pages fast. Any of the local firms above will survive those questions on at least some builds. Make them show you.
